For Al Jean, the movie and the show itsef are independent entities. You can watch the movie without ever having seen the TV show and it’s not like the movie will end with ‘Oh, you’ve got to see this episode to understand it’. It’s a selfcontained unit. Check both out if you haven’t seen it yet.
