Could you tell us something about yourself, where you live and how old are you?
college senior. 21, boston, massachusetts, usa.
Any disgusting personal habits?
i like to trigger yawns by breathing deeply. i do this when i cant sleep. that isnt all that disgusting though.
Hobbies off the net?
nothing significant. random times where i play basketball, lift weights. i drink a lot.
You we’re running the Simpsons Treasury many years. Who/what inspired you to create it?
the show. i loved the show and got really into the intricacies of it around the age of like 13 to 15 when i was in the AOL chatroom ‘simpsons trivia’. ask gilmore, he’ll tell you, heh. repetitive, but got me into wanting to
know obscurities.
Then you came back with Homer site which in my opinion had really strong, smoothy design. Did you lose interest for running it or what happened?
i liked the design i chose. i like offbeat, pastel color schemes and simple layouts. i dont think a sites attractiveness lies in the complexity of layout, but the color composition. the homer site died out because im really more inclined to care about my school work right now than anything else. i would like to come out of college with a job of some kind of course, and running a homer site simply didnt fit this schedule. thats why i thought mark and i should combine our sites for (1) convenience for the visitor — one place for homer, not two; and (2) i figured he’d update more than i ever could. at first it appeared this was possible… then we both fizzled out. im more burned out than anything. the cease and desist letter i finally got only sealed this fact.
Any memorable moments about your simp-sites?
purple treasury design that had page titles containing outreached simpson-hands. i got a lot of props for that, it seemed, and was the first time i felt i understood graphic design.
What do you think about today’s Simpsons sites on the net?
meh. same content as ever. i honestly cant even say i visit them enough to hold a strong opinion, but the only site that has wowed me in the least is that springfield map site. god thats great.
Are there any Simpsons websites with an attractive design and layout in your opinion?
adam’s designs are always very colorful and characterized by their ease of use. he does good work. as do you for your original use of color and awesome integration of simpsons images.
i actually just clicked a random link at lardlad and came to ‘the simpsons gallery’ which… uses typical blue, but i like it. good use of pictures.
What is the worst Simpsons site you have visited?
ok, to answer this i went to the 100. i have no idea about content anymore, so why dont i stick with just design. id have to go with (and i literally took a 10 second look at much of the sites on the list): just doh it, springfield springfield.. of those in the upper part of the list. boring
boring boring.
What are design styles you love and hate?
styles? id say i like great colors. everything else depends on content.are you running a gargantuan mega site that has everything? if so, make it so i can easily access it all. dont give me fancy drop down menus, dont make me look for it in a puzzle-pieced picture. just let me have a list in front of me the whole time. this doesnt have to be as boring as a left hand text link list. there are original ways.. a la ‘simpsons showcase’
What do you like and hate about the net?
i love the wealth of info i can get at any time. music, movies, sports, news, shopping, games. all there. i hate advertisements and schemes. i recently got scammed on a gift i bought for one of my best friends. his birthday was like a week ago, it has yet to arrive.
You are administrator of Springfield Message Board. Is it filled with goofballs eating gum or what kind of board is it?
it is indeed full of goofballs eating gum.
Do you think Simpsons community hang-out there a lot?
uh, sure? if you mean simpsons webmasters, then hell yes. if you mean do people who enjoy the simpsons a lot, then.. id say its less oriented toward that. they go to nohomers.
What is your favorite episode on The Simpsons and why?
22 short films & deep space homer are tied for 1st place. 22 short films is just an incredible showcase of how funny the show is. they flash through so quickly and its all just so funny. deep space homer is classic. homer in a
ridiculous situation where his stupidity works to his advantage in the end. the ants are great.. “freedom! horrible horrible freedom!”
How do you see future of The Simpsons?
they’ll milk it. dry. its already getting to that point. i like the show now and all, i watch it when i can or remember to, but it just doesnt have the kick it used to. but that crying argument is played out and pointless now. i enjoy it as a show that still rivals any other on tv today.
What kind of computer system do you use?
i have a laptop i bought a little over a year ago. its a gateway p3, 1.3ghz.. winME (the only copy in the world not to fuck up every 10 seconds apparently), 20 gig hd, 128 mb ram. its awesomeness. has a 15.7 inch monitor, which is huge for a laptop.
